About marzPrime
marzPrime the bot was originally created many years ago as a project for expanding Pearl knowledge and as a study in artificial intelligence. He has since grown from that point to what he is today. During the many stages of his development, he went through several code changes, and is now at version 8.0.0. He uses an
AIML based A.I. and we have steered him toward our ultimate goal of being a techie bot, able to answer computer related questions while pretending (and believing) that he is a Martian visiting Earth. For the technically minded, you can read on to learn more about the inner workings of marzPrime.
What is it made out of?
Two parts; the Perl code that runs his "guts" and the AIML code that is his "brain". One cannot function without the other, just like humans. The Perl code controls all aspects of the bot's actions online and on the system. He uses it to sign on, control connections, run commands, and much more. All of his primary functions, including what you see on the stats page and all commands, runs on Perl. For his chat responses the code passes the message to an interpreter that takes the input and returns a reply from the bot's AIML files.
AIML-Artificial Intelligence Markup Language
AIML code controls marzPrimes' responses when you chat with him. When we first discovered this amazing markup language, we were blown away. It's incredibly powerful, capable of recursion, reduction, condtionals, and more. With over 60k responses, marzPrime has fooled many people into believing he is NOT a bot! Send him an IM and see for yourself!
The platform
marzPrime runs on Windows XP, MySQL 5, an AIML interpreter, and Perl 5.8.
